How old does my child need to be to dance with you?

We welcome children age 5 to 17.

When do you accept new students?

We accept new students in the fall of each year, and we follow the Anchorage School District calendar.

For the 2018/2019 dance year, classes began in late August.

What costs are involved?

Annual registration of $25 per family, tuition (approximately $300 per semester), and dance shoes (beginners only need soft shoes which cost approximately $50 new or dancers can buy used) are costs to be expected in the first year.  As dancers progress, they will need to purchase hard shoes, poodle socks (girls), and will need to rent a costume for performances and/or competition.

What type of time commitment is involved?

Beginners have one class per week and as they progress additional classes and practices are offered.  All dancers are encouraged to practice at home between classes.

What if my child misses class?

Tuition is not prorated for missed classes.  Dancers are encouraged to attend every class so that they can progress with their class.  If you will not be able to attend a class, please contact Noreen.

What do dancers wear to class?

Dancers must wear black shorts and a black t-shirt or tank top, white socks, and appropriate dance shoes.  New beginners may wear ballet slippers, jazz shoes, or even sneakers for the first month.  All returning dancers must have appropriate Irish dance shoes at all classes.  Dancers also need to bring a water bottle to class.

Does my child have to compete?

No.  Although we do have dancers who do compete through our affiliation with the Comerford School of Irish Dance, many of our dancers choose to dance for recreation only.
