The Irish Dance Academy is affiliated with Tony Comerford, ADCRG, a remarkable and accomplished dancer, choreographer, teacher and adjudicator of Irish dance competition.
Mr. Comerford has over 40 years experience in the Irish dance community, beginning his own dance instruction at age 4 years in England. He went on to win championships throughout England and placed in the top 3 at both the All Ireland and World Championships of Irish Dance.
Mr. Comerford began his teaching career in England and Wales, and in the 1970's helped establish schools in Western Canada, opening his own in the early 1980's. Mr. Comerford has Irish Dance schools throughout the U.S. west coast, in California, Oregon and Washington. He has had many successes with his students, many who have placed in top positions in U.S. Championships, All- Irelands and World Championships.
The five most important things that Tony teaches through dance are: increased physical skills, increased mental skills, a healthy competitive spirit, increased self esteem, and above all, lasting frienships with other dancers.
The Irish Dance Academy of Alaska dancers are very fortunate to receive instruction from Mr. Comerford, and through this affiliation have had the opportunity to compete on a national and international level under the "Comerford Alaska" label.
